Where to get the official answer.

I'm happy to explain anything on this site. But some questions deserve a source with nothing to sell, so here's exactly where to find one.

Ask Medicare

Type your question, and go straight to the source.

This takes you to Medicare’s own site with your question already entered. It doesn’t send anything to me, and it isn’t an enrollment form.

Opens Medicare.gov in a new tab. Nothing you type here is sent to me or stored.

Official sources

Four places worth having the number for.

Start hereMedicare.gov

The official U.S. government site for Medicare. Coverage rules, what each part pays, your account, and the tools for looking up plans and providers. If you want an answer that isn’t coming from someone who sells insurance, this is where to get it.

By phone1-800-MEDICARE

Medicare’s own helpline, open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Good for questions about your own enrollment, claims and coverage that only Medicare can answer.

Call 1-800-633-4227
Free local helpState Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP)

Every state runs a program offering free, unbiased Medicare counselling, funded to help you, with nothing to sell. Genuinely worth knowing about, and I say so to clients regularly.

Find your state’s program
Enrollment & premiumsSocial Security

Signing up for Medicare, questions about your Part B premium, and anything to do with your Social Security record itself go through Social Security rather than Medicare.

Go to SSA.gov

Lisa’s Insurance Agency is not affiliated with or endorsed by the U.S. government or the federal Medicare program. The links above go to official sources so you can check anything you read here.

Or just ask me

You can also skip all of that and call.

I’ll answer what I can, tell you plainly when a question belongs with Medicare or Social Security instead, and point you at the right number.

Calling connects you with Lisa, a licensed insurance agent.
